Sinopse

É num recanto da ilha da Madeira, obscurecido e suspenso no tempo, que encontramos a numerosa família Ruel. Encabeçada por Maurício, patriarca autoritário que vive sob o mesmo tecto com a mãe Zulmira, a mulher Rosária e os quatro filhos, esta casa segue uma rotina doméstica onde impera uma periclitante combinação de respeito e medo. Apenas Rafael se opõe ao pai, e é na sequência de uma tumultuosa discussão que abandona o seu lar durante anos, até ao dia em que recebe uma carta a informar que o pai adoeceu. Quando regressa à sua terra natal, encontra-a transfigurada e irreparavelmente mergulhada num poço de inusitadas crenças e superstições. A fé no mito popular revela-se o catalisador de uma espiral de desordem que consumirá a pequena comunidade. Responsável por esta produção 100% madeirense está o grupo humorístico 4Litro, que, entre gargalhadas e calafrios, retrata uma cultura local vibrante, que resiste ao esquecimento e mantém acesa a centelha da auto-reflexão.
In a secluded corner of the island of Madeira, obscure and suspended in time, lives the large Ruel family. At its head is Maurício, an authoritarian patriarch who shares the household with his mother Zulmira, his wife Rosária, and their four children, in a domestic routine where a fragile balance of respect and fear prevails. Only Rafael dares to oppose his father, and after a violent quarrel he abandons the family home for years — until the day he receives a letter announcing his father’s illness. Returning to his homeland, he finds it transformed, irreparably immersed in strange beliefs and superstitions. Faith in popular myth becomes the catalyst for a spiral of disorder that will consume the small community. Behind this 100% Madeiran production is the comedy group 4Litro, who, between laughter and chills, capture a vibrant local culture that resists oblivion and keeps alive the spark of self-reflection.
