Sinopse

Aljezur, 1943. Celeste, uma jovem órfã, é acusada de bruxaria e de ter reavivado uma antiga maldição que outrora assolou a vila. Inocente, vê-se forçada a embarcar numa viagem que a conduzirá às profundezas obscuras do seu passado, onde desvendará a verdadeira força maligna por detrás da crescente presença nazi no Barlavento Algarvio. Co-produzido com o Luxemburgo para a RTP, este projecto é assinado por Guilherme Branquinho (vencedor do prémio de Melhor Curta de Terror no MOTELX 2022) e Leone Niel. Trata-se de um compêndio de histórias verídicas ocorridas na região de Aljezur, entre visitas de oficiais nazis e caças às bruxas, tendo como eixo central a recriação dos enigmáticos “Bailes do Vidigal” — rituais pagãos conduzidos por uma suposta bruxa, que culminavam em orgias e estados de transe. O último destes bailes, realizado em 1929, terminou em loucura e derramamento de sangue.
Aljezur, 1943. Celeste, a young orphan, is accused of witchcraft and of reviving an ancient curse that once plagued the village. Though innocent, she is forced to embark on a journey into the dark depths of her past, where she will uncover the true malevolent force behind the growing Nazi presence in the western Algarve. Co-produced with Luxembourg for RTP, the project is signed by Guilherme Branquinho (winner of the Best Horror Short Film award at MOTELX 2022) and Leone Niel. It is a compendium of true stories from the Aljezur region, weaving together visits by Nazi officers and witch hunts, with its central axis the recreation of the enigmatic “Bailes do Vidigal” — pagan rituals led by a supposed witch, culminating in orgies and states of trance. The last of these dances, in 1929, ended in madness and bloodshed.
